On Oct. 25, Carmel defeated Hamilton Southeastern 40-7. As a result of this victory, Carmel will face Fishers on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. Defensive coordinator John Hebert said the Greyhounds are preparing for this matchup the same way they did against any other team.
“We prepare the same way by watching film,” Hebert said. “We create tendency reports for our scout team so we get used to (Fishers’s offense) on Friday. We try to predict what Fishers will do.”
Matt Anton, starting left tackle and junior, is anticipating a tough matchup against Fishers. Anton said that the team is focusing on mental preparation. Anton said he learned how important it is to hold on to an early lead.
“Two weeks ago, (the Greyhounds) had a 24-7 lead at halftime against Ben Davis and we still lost. Last week against HSE, we were up 24-0 at halftime and we kept the lead until the end of the game,” Anton said. “Like every other game, you can never take an opponent lightly.”
