According to aquatics center director Kinsey Wallace, if there’s any timeless certainty for the aquatics center, it’s that it will always be hiring, so it seems.
While many new lifeguards and swim instructors have signed up for this year, there are still many open spots that Wallace needs filled.
“We can always use more lifeguards and swim instructors,” Wallace said.
Wallace said that a person interested in one of these positions should feel free to apply any time only the course of this year. The only reservation is that if one wishes to become a lifeguard, a lifeguarding certificate is needed.
“You have to do a certification course. There’s one through the high school; I got mine at Culver Academy,” lifeguard and junior Julian Tyte said.
No swim experience is required for swim instructors. Those interested just need to be over 15 years old.
According to Wallace, lifeguards would be expected to work at least two shifts a week before or after school. Those who wish to apply should email their interest to [email protected] or call her office phone, available on the CHS aquatics center website.
