Spanish Club’s next meeting will take place on March 7. According to Elizabeth Sprague, club sponsor and teacher, members will go to a dance studio to learn Hispanic dances. “The field trip is to Fred Astaire dance studio, which is located near 116th Street and Guilford Road. The students will be able to learn dances like the salsa and cha-cha, so it should be fun.”
Anna Boucher, club co-president and senior, said “I am most excited for the field trip to the dance studio because I have never had the chance to learn a Spanish dance like the salsa, and I think it would be a unique experience.”
“For second semester, we’re trying to focus on expanding outside of restaurants for more of a cultural experience,” Boucher said.“After our field trip to Fred Astaire dance studio, we have another one to a restaurant called Mexico City Grill, and then to the Indiana Museum of Art (IMA).”
Katie Roebuck, Spanish Club co-president and senior, said she was especially looking forward to the field trip to the IMA.“We had the trip to the IMA last year and it was really interesting to learn about different arts and see artwork from Spanish-speaking countries, so I’m excited to do it again.”
Sprague said, “I’m looking forward to seeing what the club members decide what they are interested in doing. This is really a club where the kids determine what do they want to do and what kind of cultural experience they want to have.”
