Key Club members are currently working on the Coats for Kids drive, a program where used coats are donated to Hamilton kids in need. Key Club is only one of the groups who have collected coats for the drive. Club president Angelike “Kiki” Koniaris said via e-mail, “We’ll help Hamilton County Kids Coats distribute them in November.” Key Club members will be volunteering at distribution days, where they will hand out, sort coats and help out Hamilton families in need. The drive as a whole in Hamilton County collected about 1800 used coats.
Members also did a food drive for the Avon Food Pantry. Key Club members donated about 20 bags of food, all weighing from five to ten pounds. After dropping off the food at the pantry, Avon Food Pantry volunteers sort and distribute the food.
Club sponsor Diana Grimes said, “It’s (Key Club) a 100 percent student led organization.”
Grimes also said via e-mail, “We are excited about all of the opportunities we have to make a difference in our community.” By: Marvin Fan
