Juniors Viviane Linos and Darlene Pham, both juniors and the founders of Do Something, met with sponsor Tracy Hadden to discuss the formation and purpose of Do Something, a new community service club. They agreed on doing video announcements after fall break and holding a call-out meeting sometime during the beginning of November to gather ideas for the club.
“We want to be the Carmel liaison group. We want to be the youth voice of Carmel,” said Hadden when the three had found a single purpose for Do Something during the meeting. They also agreed on calling Carmel’s officials for that purpose.
However, if that doesn’t work, Linos and Pham said that they could have anyone who attends the callout provide ideas for what kinds of community service they want to do as a group. However, they have decided to limit the services to the Carmel area for ease.
The Do Something club is a brand new community service club that is focused more on group work. Linos said that she and Darlene started Do Something because they found Key Club to be too restrictive. Do Something is planned to be more “laidback,” accept any student interested and have the club work together as a group instead of individually. By John Du <[email protected]>
