According to Matt Dillon, Academic Superbowl sponsor and teacher, the first team meeting for Academic Superbowl will occur after the captains have been selected.
In order to become a captain, applicants must turn in a completed form titled Questionnaire For Prospective Captains. After the questionnaires are turned in, the co-sponsors, Matt Dillon and Joe Stuelpe, will interview the candidates.
“It will be normally a two-on-one interview in SRT, where we sit down and try to figure out what are (the applicants’) strengths, what are their weaknesses, what are the other things on their plate that may interfere, stuff like that. Once we have our five captains identified, then we’ll have a general meeting where everybody comes in. We identify who the captains are, then we let them do their jobs–that is lead their teams and squads,” Dillon said.
Nimisha Kumar, former member of Academic Superbowl and current junior, was captain of the math team last year.
“It’s just a really fun experience. You learn a lot of new things every time you go there,” Kumar said. By Olivia Walker <[email protected]>
