An Israeli affiliate will speak to the Jewish Student Union (JSU) on Oct. 17. The meeting will take place after school in the main cafeteria.
According to Brett Gerstein, club president and sophomore, the affiliate will introduce himself to the club. She said he already spoke to other local Jewish youth about coordinating activities for Jewish youth. Gerstein said she hopes the event will attract the attention of the school’s Jewish students. “I’m looking forward to hopefully getting more members. It’s a larger event,” she said. The club will order pizza for the event.
The club also planned a service effort. The Kosher food drive is already in progress. Club members are encouraged to bring canned and dry Kosher food items to the next meeting. According to club sponsor Shelly Rubinstein, the canned and dry goods from the Kosher food drive will benefit less fortunate Jewish families.
Rubinstein said the club focuses on volunteering. “(They are) an involved group of people,” she said. By Afra Hussain <[email protected]>
