The Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation (CCPR) is planning a new event this year called Lights, Camera, Acting. Along with this event, other events like Prince Charming’s Ball and Incredible Kid Day require volunteers.
According to Lindsay Labas, marketing manager for the CCPR, Lights, Camera, Acting is a great way to improve theatre ability and have a great time.
“Students learn how to break down a script, understand characters and practice their acting,” she said.
With this new event and several others taking place this season, volunteers are needed. Sarah Carling, special events supervisor for the CCPR, said that each event requires a certain amount of volunteers. Prince Charming’s Ball needs around 20 to 35 volunteers and Incredible Kid Day needs about 10 to 12 volunteers. If students are interested, Carling said she wishes to know in advance.
“I would like to know three days prior to the event,” she said.
Overall, Carling believes that volunteering for the CCPR is a great way to impress schools along with businesses.
“(Students) can use this to enhance their résumé and use it as a tool to get into college,” Carling said. By Audrey Bailey <[email protected]>
