Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation (CCPR) is planning a Breakin’ 101 to occur on Thursdays from March 3 to April 28. Along with this event, there are other new options for students to participate in. According to Lindsay Labas, marketing manager for the CCPR, new events are occurring that specialize in the arts and culture.
“We are offering more arts and culture programs to our tweens and teens age group this season. New programs include a Teen Pottery Workshop, Glass Fusing for Beginners, Fused Glass Jewelry, and Silver Clay Jewelry,” she said.
Along with new special events, Labas said that volunteers are needed. According to Labas, Dime Carnival on March 5 will have a few hundred participants and is open to anyone who wishes to volunteer through collecting tickets and running the games. For students who wish to volunteer, Labas said to contact <[email protected]>.
Also, to keep up with current events and special activities, Labas said that students should follow the Monon Center and CCPR on Facebook and Twitter. According to Labas, volunteering and participating with the CCPR can be a learning experience for anyone.
“Volunteering is a perfect way to become involved in a great organization and the community,” she said. “Volunteers have the opportunity to learn new things, meet new people, and help keep the parks clean within their community.” By Audrey Bailey <[email protected]>
