The Carmel Education Foundation will announce senior scholarship recipients on May 19 on their annual scholarship night. Seniors who applied for the CEF scholarships should await contact from the CEF.
The CEF offers over sixty scholarships every year to seniors. Dorothy Ilgen, Executive Director of the CEF, said that the criteria for each scholarship differs. “Some scholarships are tied to athletic or extra-curricular activities, planned college major, or what elementary school the student attended. Some are tied to where the student plans to attend college,” Ilgen said.
Since 1966, the CEF has awarded over $1,600,000 in scholarship money to graduating seniors. The foundation makes it possible for students to reduce the price of college.
Senior Jared Herbert said that the opportunities the CEF offers helps to make scholarship searching easier. “The Carmel Education Foundation is a really helpful resource for students, especially in my search because I was able to easily apply to scholarships that I wouldn’t have been able to find on my own,” Herbert said.
Scholarship applications are currently being processed by members of the CEF, and recipients will be notified once applications are processed. By Jacob Vahle
