The next two House events are Movie Night on Nov. 19 and the Dance Marathon Garage Sale on Nov. 19 and 20. According to speaker of the House Mohammad Issa, proceeds from both events will go to the Riley Hospital for Children.
This year, Movie Night will take place at the Freshman Cafeteria, featuring the movie “Tangled.”
“(Last year’s speaker of the House) David Chiang first thought of the idea of Movie Night,” Issa said, “and I think it’s an awesome event for us to continue doing. It’s a way for people to relive their childhood and help Riley at the same time.”
The Dance Marathon Garage Sale will take place at the Main Cafeteria from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 19 and 1 to 6 p.m. on Nov. 20.
“(Garage Sale) is awesome and unique,” Issa said. “If we get enough donations, we might even be able to beat last year’s total of $5000.”
House sponsor Sarah Wolff said, “The House of Representatives is the largest student government organization (at CHS) whose goal is to support the school and the community through events and fundraising efforts. I love working with students and getting to know the student leaders who are succeeding in doing something good for the community.”
