Instead of going with the traditional prom theme with an overarching title, this spring season the Junior Class officers and sponsors have decided to forego the title and stick with a brighter color scheme, according to prom sponsor Maureen Borto.
This year, the prom is scheduled for May 5, or as some people commonly call it, Cinco de Mayo. The officers have decided to base prom off of this holiday, Borto said.
“In other years, we’ve had a title, such as ‘Evening in Central Park,’” Borto said. “This year the date on the ticket will be Cinco de Mayo. We felt we should make the color scheme a little brighter and peppier, since we’ve had more muted tones before.”
Junior Tommy Xiong said he plans to attend prom this year. He said he looks forward to the Cinco de Mayo prom color scheme.
“(I like that) it’s less of a theme, and people will just be able to do whatever they want,” Xiong said.
However, Xiong said the theme probably would not affect what he wears to the dance.
“I’ll just dress in a casual button down,” Xiong said.
