House, the student body government, will hold a “Trick-or-Treat” event on Oct. 27 in the Freshman Cafeteria from 2 to 4 p.m., according to sponsor Sarah Wolff. All members of the community are welcome to attend and are encouraged to dress in costume.
“We have 16 different stations— each with its own theme—and the kids can go around to the each station to get candy and participate in activities which will correspond to that station’s theme,” Wolff said. “It’s also a very safe, well-lit environment and if there’s bad weather, that’s not a problem. Plus it’s for charity so who doesn’t like that?”
Donations from attendees will be accepted with all proceeds going to Riley Hospital for Children in February as a part of the Dance Marathon fundraiser.
“Last year people donated anywhere from a little bit to a lot. We’ll take whatever people can give,” Wolff said.
Meredith Baranowski, speaker of the House, added that there will be an optional haunted house set up for participants to go through in addition to the activity stops. Cabinet and House members who will be dressed up according to the theme of their stations will run the event.
“For Riley (Hospital), kids and families in the community and House members, the Trick-or-Treat for Riley event is fun and positive for all,” Baranowski said.
