According to sponsor Ryan Ringenberg, Global Giving will no longer participate in the International Fair due to cost concerns and issues with the amount of space that was provided for the booth. Also, according to co-president and junior Jessica Chiang, there will be a Bake Sale from Nov. 19 to Nov. 21.
“I thought it would be a good idea to put it in that week (of Thanksgiving] just to give thanks and maybe help out people who aren’t as blessed as we are. We’re going to be selling cupcakes, brownies, cookies, and we’re naming it a Sale for Smiles,” Chiang said.
The bake sale will take place in the Main Cafeteria during all lunches. The club has decided to name the bake sale A Sale for Smiles because they are donating to Operation Smile, an organization that raises money to give surgeries to kids with cleft palate.
Chiang said, “Surprisingly, I don’t think kids know how disastrous that condition is to a child, especially during their development, so I think it’s a really good opportunity for us to help them.”
