ASL Club plans to discuss possibilities for future events at the next meeting. Possible events are deaf bowling, close caption signing movies, sports events, and activities dealing with the Indiana School for the Deaf.
Club sponsor Joseph Wheeler said via a translator, “We are still working to plan deaf bowling and find a date and time for it. With all these activities, I want to get to know the deaf students and see them have fun.”
According to Katie Connery, senior and ASL Club President, the main goal of ASL Club is to learn more about the deaf culture and partake in events that will help members improve their signing.
“It would be a good thing to learn so much about a culture,” Connery said. “There’s so much more than what’s standard, and there’s a whole other lifestyle to learn.”
Connery said that whatever event they plan, it will serve to help students to practice signing so they can become better.
