“We have two invitationals coming up,” Cynthia Henry, head sponsor of Science Olympiad, said. Henry said the club is preparing for the Whiting Invitational on Dec. 7 and the Northridge Invitational on Jan. 18.
Club members will meet on Oct. 30 and will listen to some brief announcements. The groups will split up after the announcements and be allowed to work on their project for the remainder of the time.
A typical group consists of 15 members, all ranging from inexperienced members to experienced members. The goal of the experienced members is to try and train the younger members so they feel more comfortable in the environment.
Each group is allowed to pick any form of science such as physics and chemistry. The events try to cover all areas of science.
“It’s very broad,” Henry said.
Henry said she believes that this year Science Olympiad will have a good season and will most likely make it to State this year.
