The women’s volleyball team will compete in the Warren Central Invitational on Sept. 15. Matches will start at 9 a.m. at Warren Central High School.
According to Head Coach Rich Coleman, nine teams are in this tournament, and the matches will transition from pool play to crossover matches between the pools.
Coleman said via e-mail, “This tournament will afford us the opportunity to play four opponents (yet to be determined) that will challenge us to varying degrees. We will need to keep focus on our side in order to have success.”
Lauren Pitz, varsity captain and senior, said, “It is always a difficult tourney. There are good competitors. But we have a strong team this year, and I think we can win.”
With an undefeated 14-0 record, Coleman believes that the team will do well in the tournament. “We have high expectations at the end of the day to perform,” Coleman said via e-mail.
Amanda Merk, varsity captain and senior, said, “We are preparing for the Warren Central Invitational the same way we prepare for regular matches. We hope to come out as champs.”
The team’s next match, after the tournament, is scheduled for Sept. 18 against North Central at home.
