Women’s varsity soccer prepares to play Cathedral on Sept. 25 and Zionsville on Sept. 28. In past years the team has struggled against Zionsville. Last year, they lost in the second round of Sectional to Zionsville. Over the past week the team defeated Warren Central 3-0 and lost to Fishers 2-0. The team will continue to compete in their season games and prepare for Sectionals starting Oct. 8. The team plans to have two more home games and two more away games.
Head Coach Frank Dixon is confident in the team’s abilities this year, as there is a lot of pressure on Carmel coaches to coach a state-winning team. “I feel confident in the ability of the soccer staff and more importantly our players when we compete. We have all committed to doing our best which in most cases will get the job done,” Dixon said. Due to many injuries to players on the team, the team is forced to play around the lack of players. Amy Malone, team captain and senior, is also confident in the team’s abilities this year. She said, “The biggest thing this year for the team is to pay attention to what is happening on the field.”
