The Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation (CCPR) is planning to host Family Campout on Sept. 25 and 26 from 4:30 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday.
Located at West Park, Family Campout allows kids to dig out tents, enjoy beans, hotdogs and hamburgers, and also, take part in the games and activities offered. Although this event seems to appeal to the family as a whole, it also allows kids to explore on their own.
“It gives (kids) an opportunity to go out and do things on their own,” Lindsay Labas, marketing manager for CCPR, said.
According to Labas, if students wish to volunteer or participate with the CCPR they should email special events supervisor Sarah Carling and also turn in an application.
Students who decide to volunteer can become part of the Teen Council, which is a collaborated effort to think of different activities and events for the CCPR.
“(Teen Council members) come and throw in ideas to the group and suggest activities they would be interested in participating in,” Labas said.
