The Student Athletic Board is wrapping up the first semester of the school year with training needed for speaking to young kids about sportsmanship. Members of the Student Athletic Board will be attending more elementary schools starting at the beginning of the second semester.
Lindsey Kitzinger, Student Athletic Board member and senior, said, “We are training before we visit the schools to learn games and learn how to talk to kids about what being a good sport means and how to go about conveying that to them in ways that they will be able to understand.”
According to Jim Inskeep, sponsor of the Student Athletic Board and athletics director, the Student Athletic Board members will be talking about the R.I.C.H.E.R. (respect, integrity, caring, harmony, excellence, responsibility) principles.
Members will group off and visit the elementary schools in pairs in order to cover every school.
“We want to teach kids early on about good sportsmanship,” said Kitzinger. “It is important, and they need to know that.” By Cassie Dugan <[email protected]>
