Junior Class officers are preparing for upcoming Homecoming events. Playhouse building is scheduled to be on Sept. 23 after school behind the football stadium until 8 p.m., while the Homecoming dance is scheduled to be on Sept. 25 from 8 to 11 p.m.
One major event coming up is playhouse building. Playhouse building is an event in which each class builds a playhouse based on a theme that is specific to their playhouse. Students can help paint and decorate the playhouse, which will later be sold by the class. All proceeds will then go to a charity of their choosing.
“The major events of Homecoming are the spirit days, and the dance. Homecoming and prom are two big events for the Junior Class,” said prom sponsor Maureen Borto.
As Homecoming week continues, Junior Class officers have been preparing for the numerous events that take place during the week. One of their jobs is to promote the student attendance to events and to get fellow students to join in the spirit of Homecoming week. Class officers meet every week to discuss new ways to get students in their grades to participate in events, and to discuss the plans of future events.
Junior Class President Avinash Mishra said, “What the officers do is plan the events for the students, and promote them to get students attend events. Our main focus is to get people to go to events. Students should go to the events because it’s a fun way to get involved, a way to challenge themselves, and a great way to meet new people.” By Eric He <[email protected]>
