This year, LifeLines will again run its Buckle Down raffle program. However, last year, the group raffled off a car. According to Rebekah Overbey, LifeLines sponsor and resource teacher, this year they will instead raffle a laptop and small scholarships.
Alec Rader, LifeLines vice president and junior, said that the scholarships have yet to be decided, though.
“We’re not sure at the moment, because we’ll talk more in detail about our plans for the rest of the year in our upcoming meetings,” he said.
Rader said he still believes the campaign will be successful, though.
“Last year, we saw a lot more people buckling up with their seatbelts,” he said. “This year I think it will be the same, even though the end prize is different.”
According to Rader, the Buckle Down raffle involves having participants sign up for the raffle and that the point of the program is to have as many students wearing their seatbelts as possible. By Shayan Ahmad
