The Junior Class officers are scheduled to have a meeting with all other class officers at 7:15 a.m. on Aug. 19 to map out further Homecoming Week plans, according to Junior Class president Chris Johnson. However, up until this point, no significant changes have been made to plans since the end of last school year, according to Junior Class secretary Julian Batts.
“Everything is pretty much the same,” Batts said.
Junior Class sponsor John Love said the class officers are putting a special emphasis on the annual 5K Walk/Run.
“The kids are working hard to organize and get the 5K up and running. Last Friday after school, (the officers) were finding sponsors for the race,” Love said.
This year, the Junior Class is raising money for Chaucie’s Place, a non-profit child advocacy center. This is the same charity it raised money for last year as well.
Planning prom is also a significant responsibility for the Junior Class officers later in the year, according to Love. “Junior year is a big year because of prom,” Love said.
