On Sept. 28 the tennis team starts the post-season off with a 5-0 victory over Westfield to win the Sectional. The tennis team’s talents will be tested at Regional in Kokomo on Oct. 2.
Sameer Kumar, number-1 singles player and sophomore, won 6-0, 6-0 for the Sectional semi-finals. Previously, Sameer has done a phenomenal job, and each match, he adds another win to his astounding record. Now that Mihir Kumar, Sameer’s brother, has graduated, Sameer is left a huge shoe to fill and the title of number-1 singles. “I’m excited, it’s going to be tough but it’s going to be fun” Sameer said.
Head Coach Mike Bostic said via e-mail, “Always good to get that first win under your belt in the tournament. The guys looked really sharp (while playing).”
The tennis team will to travel to Kokomo on Oct. 2 for Regional. It will be a long haul, and according to Sameer, the players will try to make it worth the trip.
