Men’s tennis team starts the post-season with a win

The men’s tennis team poses for its victory picture after winning the Sectional. On Oct. 2, the players will have to prove themselves again at Regional.

On Sept. 28 the tennis team starts the post-season off with a 5-0 victory over Westfield to win the Sectional. The tennis team’s talents will be tested at Regional in Kokomo on Oct. 2.

Sameer Kumar, number-1 singles player and sophomore, won  6-0, 6-0 for the Sectional semi-finals. Previously, Sameer has done a phenomenal job, and each match, he adds another win to his astounding record. Now that Mihir Kumar, Sameer’s brother,  has graduated, Sameer is left a huge shoe to fill and the title of number-1  singles. “I’m excited, it’s going to be tough but it’s going to be fun” Sameer said.

Head Coach Mike Bostic said via e-mail, “Always good to get that first win under your belt in the tournament. The guys looked really sharp (while playing).”

The tennis team will to travel to Kokomo on Oct. 2 for Regional. It will be a long haul, and according to Sameer, the players will try to make it worth the trip.
