Rising Stars members start the school year with new administration and many exciting events planned ahead.
Monica Ramirez, senior, is the new president of the club. She plans to incorporate more freedom of expression of members during club meetings as well as occasional talent shows throughout the year. She is also planning to have the club be more involved in school activities, starting with the club’s very own convertible in the Homecoming Parade.
Many members of the club will be acting in school productions such as the Studio One Acts which will be showing from Sept. 22 to Sept. 24.
“[Everyone should] come see the Studio One Acts. They are hilariously funny and the directors worked diligently at this.” Ramirez said.
In addition, two new representatives were elected recently. The Freshman Representative is Sydney Sorrell and the Representative at large is Austin Guevara.
The club has also planned many exciting events, such as the annual Hayride and banquet held at the end of the year. This year, many members will sign up to attend the Thespians Honor Organization Meeting on Jan. 17 and 19. Thespians is an international organization with over 3,315 participation clubs and schools from all over the world. To enter, members of Rising Stars earn points by working backstage, acting in productions, and attending conferences.
“Thespians is an organization for students who want to achieve more,” club sponsor Jim Peterson said.
