On Nov. 8, the Carmel Greyhounds defeated the Fort Wayne Carroll Chargers 38-7 for the Regional victory. The Greyhounds will advance to Semistate to play the number one ranked Penn Kingsmen at home. Defensive coordinator John Hebert was very proud of the team’s performance against Fort Wayne Carroll.
“We feel great about the way the defense played against Carroll. We executed the gameplan and limited their rushing yards to 39 while creating three turnovers,” Hebert said.
Jake Herr, tight end and junior, is proud of his performance against Fort Wayne Carroll as he scored his first career touchdown in that game. He said that he spent a lot of time to prepare for this game by watching game film, studying scouting reports and practicing hard. Hebert said that the defense have been preparing to play against Penn’s senior quarterback Zach Oakley, who is going to play Division I football next year for Central Michigan. Hebert wants to limit Penn from taking the lead early since Penn has yet to trail during the season.
“I’m excited. We’re playing for a chance to go get a ring,” Herr said. “I’m just ready to go.”
