The Pinnacle staff is getting ready to distribute the finished 2013 Pinnacle yearbook. The staff recently returned from a journalism convention in San Francisco. According to Pinnacle adviser Nicole Wilson, the journalism convention and distribution are the best parts of the year. Pinnacle member and sophomore Joie Li said that the convention definitely helped staff prepare for next year.
During the journalism convention, the students received training in classes and competed in write-offs. Although the staff members did not win a Pacemaker, four Pinnacle members placed in these competitions: sophomore Joie Li, sophomore Leah Zukerman, Mary McDermott and Emily Brungard.
Li said, “It was really exciting to be in an atmosphere with so many journalists together with one interest.”
The Pinnacle yearbook is typically distributed the week before finals. Li is looking forward to seeing everyone’s reaction to their hard work on the book.
Li said, “I’m really proud to have been part of our book this year. It’s been an amazing experience for all of us on staff and I can’t wait until everyone sees the fruit of our hard work. I’ll miss the experience terribly, but hope that next year we’ll make an even better book; one that can make Carmel High School even prouder.”
