Sophomore Aryaman Gupta and other TechHounds member test out an old robot. TechHounds is preparing for a Cage Match in October, where they will scrimmage with last year’s robot at Southport High School.
Tech Hounds recently had its call-out meeting on Sept. 5. It is now working to train new members for the upcoming Cage Match. Member and sophomore Zachary Simpson said that this year was the largest turn out ever. According to sponsor George Giltner, the Cage Match is a great opportunity for new members to gain experience.
The call-out meeting was a successful one. Giltner said, “We had over 100 attend this year, and it was great.” Simpson said that during the meeting, members reviewed what Tech Hounds was about and the expectations for the season. “We’re mostly trying to train new members so they know what to do when the season comes around again.”
Tech Hounds has a Cage Match coming up. “It’s when teams take their robots from last year and have a scrimmage, typically designed for rookie members have an opportunity to practice,” Giltner said. The Cage Match will take place at Southport High School this Fall Break.
