Junior varsity men’s basketball starts off its season with a record of 2-2. Francis Ramirez, JV men’s basketball head coach, said he has high hopes for his team. He said he is trying to get everything out of all of his players to help prepare them for the next level.
“I’m excited about this group of players. Each one of them competes at a high level, and they have all bought into our system,” Ramirez said via email.
Neil Lampe, JV basketball player and sophomore, said, “The team is doing well, but there is always room for improvement. I think we are going to be a strong team and win a lot of games.”
Ramirez said he approaches every game as if it was a big game. “With underclassmen you can’t look ahead for any particular team so we take it one game at a time. The next game is always the biggest,” Ramirez said.
Ramirez said, “In the Carmel basketball program, we pride ourselves on creating winners. Our coaches work hard to get the most out of our kids. We focus on key things like fundamentals, player’s mental approach to the game and the character it takes to be a good teammate. All of these aspects create a culture for winning and help with representing Carmel High School in a positive way.”
