Design for CHS plans to host the “Street Store Project” for Carmel, which aids the poor with donated clothing and other supplies. This will provide a better relationship and unity as a whole within the society. Jan Mitchener, sponsor of Design for CHS, said “You just get a great feeling when you see that these kids are willing to help others and make a positive change in our community. This event is a great way for everyone to get involved and interact with each other.”
The Street Store Project’s main objective is to help the poor with donations of clothing and other supplies. Taking place in downtown Indianapolis, people will hang up their donated items that they do not need onto a fence. From there, the people who are in need of those supplies can take whatever they need from those fences and use them. “I think this is going to be a really helpful project that will certainly boost the positivity and unity of our community,” said Joseph Seo, Director of Service Projects for Design Club.
The Street Shop Project not only helps donate clothing and other supplies, but it also provides the people in need a sense of retail experience of getting to choose their own wares. This project provides the poor with an experience that a normal customer would normally receive when shopping at a typical store. Design for CHS is currently working with Wheeler Mission to organize a Street Store in downtown Indianapolis.
Seo also said, “In essence, this project is just another way to help our community against social problems. As being the Director of Service Projects for Design for CHS, it is my responsibility to make sure that the project services that we conduct will definitely help improve our community, little by little.
