Design for CHS starts off the year with The Street Store, a project which helps supply people in need of clothing. According to club sponsor Jan Mitchener, this will promote a better sense of awareness and care as a whole within the society.
“Participating in this project really does show how much you care about others who are in need. And to me, helping each other is the best way to spread kindness. Even one little thing you give away can make a big difference.” Mitchener said.
Taking place in Indianapolis, and lasting only on March 7, 2015, The Street Store’s main objective is to aid people in need with donated warm clothing. The Street Store will hang and display various clothing, including, shirts, pants and shoes, allowing those who are in need to walk through and pick out any article of clothing which they may need.
“Especially at this time of the year, everyone needs warm clothing. This will be a perfect opportunity to supply people with warm clothing so that everyone can be prepared for the cold weather.”Design for CHS co-president, Vikas Maturi said.
Additionally, The Street Store provides the people in need with an experience that a normal customer would receive when shopping at a typical store.
“Essentially it’s a warm shopping experience that will make everyone feel welcomed. This provides many opportunities and experiences that many people in need may not normally get anywhere else.” Maturi said.
