The student safety and decision making group, LifeLines, is beginning its year with its new program, Buckle Down. Buckle Down is a program regarding the driving safety of students at this school.
“It is a program that rewards smart choices with gift cards, prizes and the grand prize is a car,” Austin Rader, LifeLines president and senior, said.
Buckle Down will give students many prizes for making good decisions, especially with driving. Rader said, “Students that participate are required to sign a contract stating they will make smart choices with alchohal and controlled substances, that they will make smart choices while driving (especially wearing a seatbelt, not getting distracted by phones and iPods, speeding, substance abuse, etc.), and also make smart choices in everyday life. This program is especially prevalent due to the recent car crashes involving Hamilton County students.”
Students will also be rewarded points for posting on the Web site NowThinkNow.com. Now Think Now is not just a website though; it is a way of thinking.
“It urges everyone to think before they act, especially when it comes to driving, and its purpose is to get keep students informed on all the information that will help them make the right decision at the right time,” LifeLines sponsor Rebekah Overbey said. By Shayan Ahmad <[email protected]>
