The Senior Class emerged from Homecoming week victorious. They ended up winning three of the five competitions which included playhouse building, the 5K, spirit days, penny wars and the Homecoming trike races.
“The Senior class should win,” Senior Class sponsor Jen Williams said. The spirit days this year included Neon day, Harry Potter day, Superhero day, Disney day and Blue and Gold day.
“The best part about the spirit days was Harry Potter day when Principal Williams dressed up as Dumbledore,” Williams said.
The seniors, though they placed third in the penny wars and just lost the spirit days, won playhouse building, the 5K and the trike races.
“The playhouses this year were awesome,” Williams said. “Everyone dida great job and they all looked really nice. Usually there is one that is really poorly built and doesn’t look very well done. This year, they all were excellent.”
The seniors just beat out the sophomores in this year’s competition. Their theme was “Hang 10.” The juniors came in third and the freshmen fourth. This year’s trike races were just as intense and were again won by the seniors. Some trike teams included Ghostbusters, Harry Potter and Naked Swim.
“The trike races were a lot of fun,” Matt Flaherty, member of the Naked Swim trike team and senior, said. “Especially when I fell off of my trike and embarrassed myself in front of 4000 people.”
Now that Homecoming is over, the seniors can finally take pride in their accomplishment.
“We deserved to win,” Flaherty said. “The seniors should beat the underclassmen even though it was in fun, spirited competition.” By Ryan Zukerman <[email protected]>
