The Tie Dye Club is a new group that has formed at CHS. Its call-out meeting took place Oct. 14 and was led by club presidents and sophomores Allixandra “Allie” Daniels and Alexis Ruggerio. The purpose of Tie Dye Club is for students to tie dye shirts for children at Riley Children’s Hospital and make shirts to sell with proceeds going to Riley.
“Everyone that joins the club has to pay $5, and this will provide the T-shirts for kids at Riley Children’s Hospital that we’re going to dye during the meetings. Also, if they have anything else they want to dye they can bring it,” Ruggerio said.
At meetings, which are scheduled to take place every Blue Wednesday, group members will also learn different tie dyeing techniques. The meetings will be held in Room H313.
This club originally started when presidents Daniels and Ruggerio wanted to have a Homecoming booth in order to sell tie dye t-shirts. “We couldn’t have a booth without having a club, so we decided to make a club,” Ruggerio said. The booth was successful during Homecoming, selling most of the shirts that the girls made. “Now we’re really excited about the actual club.”
“It’s a good outlet for doing something after school, and tie dye is very creative. With the approval of Riley, it would be a really neat way to tie in our work at Carmel High School with Riley Hospital,” sponsor Kathy Hallett said. By Rachel Boyd <[email protected]>
