Although it does not take place until the end of the year, the Senior Class has already begun preparations for their graduation which will take place May 31, at Pepsi Coliseum. The seniors have already started meeting with counselors and had various convocations regarding graduation.
“The week before fall break, we had a meeting about ordering our caps and gowns,” senior Matt Flaherty said.
Senior Class sponsor Jen Williams said that each senior has had (or is planning to have) a senior meeting with their counselor.
“They talk about if they are on track for graduation and how to apply to college,” Williams said.
But before they can focus on graduation, seniors like Flaherty are currently focused on getting into colleges. Flaherty, who is applying to various schools including Georgetown University and the University of Miami Ohio, is finishing up his applications.
“I’m a little nervous because I don’t know what the specific colleges want to see from me,” he said.
Most college applications require letters of recommendation, SAT or ACT scores and a grade transcript, but for Flaherty, the hardest part of the application is the essay.
“I think the hardest part about getting into college is writing the application essays, because you have already gotten the grades and done the academics and activities, and the essays are all that you still have left.” By Ryan Zukerman <[email protected]>
