From Feb. 16 through Feb. 18, the school PTO will host a telethon for the Carmel Clay Education Foundation. The telethon occurs from 4 to 8:30 p.m. NHS members will answer pledge calls from the community room.
“The money raised goes to fund the scholarships and it’s actually really important for students and the community,” Ansel Nalin, NHS president and senior, said.
The Carmel Clay Education foundation offers scholarships available to seniors.
According to NHS sponsor Debbie Haire, the scholarships are funded by pledges made by community members and the PTO. NHS members will work two shifts taking pledges over the phone while the program takes place in the auditorium. Nalin said the event will be televised by CHTV and features local elementary school choirs.
The telethon is an annual event. “The foundation is certainly important and our involvement is important,” Nalin said. By Afra Hussain <[email protected]>
