After cancelling many meetings, Alexis Ruggiero, Allixandra “Allie” Daniels and Joanna Morgan, Tie Dye Club presidents and sophomores, have decided to end the Tie Dye Club until further notice.
“We had difficulty starting simply because of lack of publicity. It takes time to build a new organization,” sponsor and biology teacher Kathy Hallett said.
In addition to lack of interest with the club, there were also scheduling conflicts between the presidents.
“We all were really busy, so we didn’t have enough time for the club,” Ruggiero said.
The Tie Dye Club formed this year, and its call-out meeting was on Oct. 14.
The presidents planned to meet after school every Blue Wednesday in Hallett’s room, Room H313. The club’s purpose was to tie dye shirts for children at Riley Children’s Hospital and make shirts to sell with proceeds going to Riley. The presidents planned to teach new tie dyeing techniques, and members were encouraged to bring in own items to tie dye.
“We started the club in October, but we didn’t do a lot. We wanted to restart the club in January because it was a new semester, but that didn’t work either,” Ruggiero said. By Rachel Boyd <[email protected]>
