The marching band will compete at the St. Louis Bands of America Super Regional on Oct. 15 – 17.
According to Michael Pote, associate director of bands, the St. Louis Super Regional is one of the larger events the marching band will compete in during its season.
“There will be more people than at a normal regional,” he said. “There’s probably going to be around 50 bands there. It’s a two-day event, where we compete at the Edward Jones dome in St. Louis.”
According to Julia Durborow, a member of the marching band and junior, the Super Regional is made up of two rounds. She said, “There’s preliminaries and if you make it through that there’s a final round, so hopefully we’ll be playing twice.”
Durborow also said the marching band plans to have its annual Bandcoming dance on Oct. 9. She said, “It’s our version of Homecoming. We have a dance in the band room on a free weekend, since we always miss the Homecoming dance because we have a competition.” By Caroline Zhang <czhang@hilite.org>
