Fall registration for Carmel Dads’ Club (CDC) begins on May 1. The CDC fall season will begin no earlier than August 1, and most fall sports begin when Carmel Clay Schools resume.
Certain sports, like flag football, are expected to increase in participation due to factors like Carmel’s football State championship and the basketball State championship. CDC president Jack Beery said he expects fall staples like soccer to remain strong in the fall season. Beery expects participation numbers to jump from roughly 4400 players last year to about 4500 players this upcoming fall. The spring numbers also increased, though not as dramatically, jumping from 4854 participants in 2011 to 4875 this past spring. Aerial football also did well last spring, starting up with about 25 players.
Beery said, “We’re always looking to add other sports if the high school kids want to play those sports.”
Jared Nematollahi, long-time CDC soccer player and freshman, said he has noted the trend of more players in the CDC’s fall sports, such as soccer.
Nematollahi said, “I think the more kids play CDC sports, the better for the community.”
