According to Chemistry Club sponsor Virginia Kundrat, Chemistry Club students participated in the regional exam for the U.S National Chemistry Olympiad (USNCO) at CHS last week. Two participants will be selected from CHS to represent the school in the national exam in late April. These students will participate in the national exam to qualify for the 46th International Chemistry Olympiad in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Senior David Liang participated in the 45th International Chemistry Olympiad in 2013. Before the day of the regional exam, Liang helped Chemistry Club students brush up on their skills and knowledge.
Liang said, “(The test) is a great opportunity to get exposed to the subject. It’s more in-depth in what you would do in school…Plus, science is awesome and people should really get into it. It’s where the future pretty much lies. Chemistry is one of the rising fields out there.”
