According to Science Bowl sponsor Virginia Kundrat, the first-place Science Bowl team will continue to practice individually to prepare for the upcoming National competition in Washington D.C. from April 24 to 28. The other science bowl teams will have no more meetings until further notice.
“The first team might compete against some of the other teams to get into those kind of competitive scenarios, but other than that the other teams are done,” Kundrat said.
Darren Chang, Science Bowl member and freshman, said he will continue to study and prepare for next year’s competitions individually while his team stops meeting. Kundrat also recommends studying individually to prepare for Science Bowl next year.
“Looking at old exams online will give you an idea of what types of questions they ask. (The current members) spend a lot of time reading college textbooks in their area. A couple of them read chemistry, another one with physics, another one with earth (and) space science, and another one with biology. Math is a fifth one they need to be strong in too,” Kundrat said.
The National competition will be the last competition of the year for Science Bowl.
“I think the first-place team is going to do very well (at Nationals). They’re really, really talented. I think they’ll do very well and probably better than last year,” Chang said.
“They have a good chance of doing quite well there, I think,” Kundrat said.
