As the regular season ends for the women’s cross-country team, runners start to prepare for the upcoming tournament ending with the state championship meet in Terre Haute. “We are definitely on track to meet our state title goal,” Head Coach Mark Ellington said. “Despite the early season loss to a good West Lafayette squad, we have gained some momentum and seen the return of some injured athletes.”
Upcoming meets include Trinity Invitational which will feature the third-ranked team in the nation. “This will be the first time we are running our top-seven girls this season, so I’m really excited,” Kelcy Welch, varsity runner and senior, said. “People think we are vulnerable after a loss, but we’re looking stronger than we ever have.”
Recent meet results include a win at the Mason Invitational and a win at the Eagle Classic.
