The women’s swimming and diving team will compete in the State competition on Feb. 15 at the IUPUI Natatorium. According to Head Coach Chris Plumb, the girls have been preparing for this day for a long time now. He is requiring the girl’s lots of rest and team bonding. During the Sectional tournament all swimmers qualified for State Prelims and State. “The sectional meet was not about winning for us. It was about qualifying as many people as possible to the State meet and we were able to do that,” Plumb said.
Hanna House, team captain and senior, said the girls are more than excited for the upcoming meet. Individually each girl will make slight changes before State, but as a whole the team is going to continue to do what they have been doing and continue to strive for their 28th straight State win.
“Several things change when switching gears from Sectionals to State. More girls will be suited and everyone is tapered to perform at their best so we are just more energized and excited,” House said. “The high school state meet is the ultimate focus so it does come with more pressure, but way more hype and fun.”
