ComedySportz will have auditions for students interested in joining the team on Friday, Aug. 28, from 3:30 to 5:30 in the studio theater. Three spots are open for contention.
Though there is no particular personality that can be classified as the perfect fit for the team, Jim Peterson, performing arts teacher and sponsor, said, “We want people who are quick thinkers and funny, but most importantly, who can give and take; those who can take focus but also those who can give focus when needed.”
The current team had workshops during SRT on Monday, Aug. 24, and Wednesday, Aug. 26 and will also be having one on Friday, Aug. 28. If interested, passes are available in room P123.
These workshops help auditioners become comfortable with the games and improvisational nature of the team by teaching them some games and rules. Team members help run through these rules and leave the floor open for people to try it out for themselves and give them valuable tips and tricks.
Laura Palmer, current team member and senior, said, “Workshops help so much when it comes to a ComedySportz audition. You can kind of get the nervousness out of your system at these workshops rather than being really nervous at the actual audition. You learn the games, so you have the knowledge and experience to better equip you for performing at the auditions. Really, it’s just a fun time and it will really help you come Friday.”
