Assistant Principal Sam Ruff will be collecting parking pass applications for the senior parking lot Oct. 19 to 23. Applications can be picked up in the Activities Office. Winners will be able to begin parking in the designated lot Nov. 2.
Every six weeks, Ruff collects applications from seniors who have meet certain academic requirements specified on the application and wish to receive a parking pass. Forty winners are chosen from the 250-300 applications turned in. Applications are picked out of the stack at random and then reviewed by Ruff to make sure all information put on the applications are correct.
Senior Madison Gee was one of the students to receive a parking pass for the senior lot. She won her pass for the second six weeks. When Gee turned in her application she said she believed she would not be one of the students to win. “I never really win anything,” Gee said.
“I get to sleep in a little bit more, I’m not as rushed,” Gee said. She said she believes the passes really help those who have won them.
“Anything to combat senioritis is a good thing,” Ruff said. He said he believes the addition of this drawing was a good idea.
“It’s great when students come up with ideas and ways to make CHS better,” Ruff said. The idea for the senior parking lot was developed by last year’s student government, but this is the first year for the drawing. By Kate Shanklin <[email protected]>
