The Do Something Club had its first monthly event on Jan. 12, according to club sponsor Tracy Hadden. Viviane Linos, club founder and junior, said that members brought four yards of fleece each in order to make fleece blankets for a homeless shelter.
Also, Linos said that food and music was available at the event for the club members to enjoy.
For their event in February, Linos and Darlene Pham, also a club founder and junior, and the people who have attended the meetings have suggested that the Do Something Club should visit a nursing home to help out, but they haven’t completely decided on what to do. Hadden said that the club would either make a cake and visit on Valentine’s Day or bond with the residents and compile their memories.
Linos said that there were about 20 students who attended the Do Something Club’s first meeting. She said that the number of participants keeps growing. Also, she said that she expects more people to join at a later time.
Theresa Lipp, club member and junior, said, “I think it’s a great idea for having a great time with friends while also helping others. I think we can do a lot.” By John Du <[email protected]>
