Among all other regular activities students participate in for CHTV, some students are also representing CHS with contest entries. One of these contests, for the Indiana Association of School Broadcast, or IASB, gives students the opportunity choose from different categories to prepare videos for.
“These can be promotional announcements, they can be music videos, there’s a bunch of different categories to choose from,” CHTV instructor Hal Espey said.
Also, CHTV has two students, seniors Mark Hodges and Parker Myers, working on a documentary for Cable Satellite Public Affairs Network or CSPAN. The contest entry, called Homeless in America, is about the struggles of the homeless citizens in America.
“It really is a huge problem. There are so many struggling people out there, and in many areas, there isn’t much help. Some cities don’t want homeless shelters in them because they think it will hurt their image and not really appeal to the types of people they their city to appeal to,” Hodges said.
