The Paws4Cause Club recently completed its plan to watch the documentary “The Cove.”
Teacher sponsor Patti Balchan said, “It was very good, I’m impressed”. Balchan also said that the documentary was a success with the group members.
In terms of future plans, several ideas are recurring. The plan to hang posters in the school has been approved by the administration, but the posters must highlight companies that are known to not participate in animal testing, instead of disdaining those that are known to do so. These posters will begin to be created during the next club meeting.
As per usual, Paws4Cause is encouraging students to participate at the local Humane Society, although they have recently added more emphasis on this. The club is collecting money to donate to the Humane Society, which they plan to do soon.
Club members aged 16 or over are also highly encouraged to participate in the Humane Society’s monthly orientation program. Charu Dwivedi, club co-founder and junior, says that only a few of the over 30 members of the club have completed the orientation, which allows them to work hands-on with animals.
Paws4Cause is considering a new idea. Dwivedi said, “We’re thinking of having a talent show, like with animals.” The club will meet next Tuesday to work on posters and discuss this new idea, among other activities. The club meets in Room E204, and information is available at that location for students that are interested. By Nick Johnson <[email protected]>
