The Carmel Dads Club (CDC) soccer league began practices in August and will run through most of October. The co-ed teams usually practice twice a week with games on Saturdays.
According to Bethany Burchill, the athletics director of CDC, the CDC soccer league has 340 high school soccer players. Senior Jessica Novitski spends most of her week at her job and at school, but in her free time she plays soccer on a co-ed team for the Carmel Dad’s Club.
“It’s a fun and competitive environment without it being overly stressful. There’s no pressure to show up to the practices if your busy, but it’s still a fun way to play soccer with other high school students.” Novitski said.
In the mean time, basketball registration began on Sept. 1 and will remain open until Oct. 17. Unlike the soccer teams, basketball will be divided into boys’ and girls’ teams. In addition to all high school teams, a freshman-only league will be available. The cost to join a team is $75, plus the annual family membership fee of $50.
Other fall sports include girl’s volleyball and flag football. Basketball is the only winter sport offered by CDC, but spring sports include high school soccer, baseball, girl’s volleyball, girl’s softball, boy’s lacrosse, boy’s volleyball, and rugby. Registration for the spring season begins Jan. 1.
